TAG CHRISTIAN VISION AND MISSION

Purpose: The TAG Vision and Mission sets forth the Christian values we strive to uphold, both in our professional and personal lives.

Overall vision: To love and have compassion for our fellow employees and all people we come across, living and reflecting the example of Christ each day at home and in the workplace, so that more people will accept Him as their Lord and Saviour and to continually strengthen our personal relationship with God.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Romans 13:8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

Mark 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation”.

TAG’s 10 Mission Commandments to fulfil our vision

1.   I have a spirit of giving, helping others when they are in need. I share what God has given me with others. I bring hope to others, regardless the circumstances.

1 Timothy 6:18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

Proverbs 14:21 It is a sin to belittle one’s neighbour;
blessed are those who help the poor.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

2.   I perform my duties with dedication and pride as if I were doing it for God, no matter how big or even how insignificant it may be.

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

Romans 12:11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.

3.   I communicate in a respectful way and treat all those around me with respect. I do not perceive myself to be more important than others and treat people with dignity. My own stories and thoughts do not prevent me from listening or noticing the plight of others.

Proverbs 22:11 He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious
will have the king for his friend.

James 3:5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.

Philippians 2:3-5 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

James 1:19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

4.   I have a teachable spirit and I am eager to learn from God and others.

Proverbs 1:5 Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance

James 1:5 If any of you needs wisdom to know what you should do, you should ask God, and he will give it to you. God is generous to everyone and doesn’t find fault with them.

5.   I have the heart of a servant and I am willing to serve others irrespective of their status or position.

Philippians 2:5-7 Have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Although he was in the form of God and equal with God, he did not take advantage of this equality. Instead, he emptied himself by taking on the form of a servant, by becoming like other humans, by having a human appearance.

John 13:14
Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.

6.   I distance myself from bribery, pay decent wages, accept my social responsibility, pay my taxes and pay my debts.

Deuteronomy 16:19
Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
Colossians 4:1 And masters, treat your servants considerately. Be fair with them. Don't forget for a minute that you, too, serve a Master—God in heaven.

Proverbs 3:27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.

Romans 13:6-7 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honour, then honour.

7.   I will only speak the truth and act with integrity, even if it may affect me negatively. I am a trustworthy individual.

Proverbs 16:13 Kings take pleasure in honest lips;
they value a man who speaks the truth.

Matthew 5:33-37 Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.' ………Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Psalm 119:1 Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the LORD.

Proverbs 20:7 The godly walk with integrity;
blessed are their children who follow them.

8.   I respect all authority that has been appointed over me

Romans 13:1-2 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

1 Peter 2:13-17
Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honour the king.

9.   I do not swear, take part in gossip, or joke in a manner not befitting a Christian.

Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Ephesians 5:3-4 Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.

Philippians 4:8
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

10.Those around me can identify me as a Christian based on my behaviour. I am not afraid to be identified as a Christian.

1 Timothy 6:11-12 But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.

Luke 9:26
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Matthew 5:11
God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.

1 Peter 4:16
However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

Matthew 5:3-10

The Beatitudes
“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
    God blesses those who mourn,
      for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
      for they will be satisfied.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
      for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”
